Share Yourself: Learning to Stop Hiding and Just Talk to People About Jesus with Zack Ayen
For many us, sharing the good news about Jesus with others tends to feel more like a scary, awkward, uncomfortable event rather than a lifestyle. This seminar will explore what being an ambassador for Christ really looks like. We will explore how keeping Jesus at the center of our lives opens the door to evangelism in our interactions with the people around us. We don’t have to hide our identity as Christians. If we follow Jesus’ example we will find that we can be clear and confident about what we believe while also being kind, compassionate, and genuinely relational.Zack is the Campus director for The Navigators at the Michigan Technological University. Zack and his wife Kelli moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 2020 to pioneer a new campus ministry for the Navigators. Zack got the itch for evangelism when he had the privilege of being a part of one of his friends coming to know Jesus his first year of EDGE Corps. He saw then how important it is to be a witness and an ambassador to the lost around him, and that it doesn’t have to be weird!
Union with Jesus: Growing into the Rich, Living Relationship God Has Promised You with Sawyer Caldwell
Jesus came to give us abundant life, and yet many of us find ourselves feeling harassed, helpless, heavy laden, anxious, lost, and hopeless. The doorway to the abundant life Jesus promised is to abide in Him. Jesus' teaching is simple and direct, but we often overcomplicate it, or we throw the word abide around to the point that it feels empty. As someone who has experienced at least as much blessedness as angst when reading and trying to live out this teaching, Sawyer will share some lessons he has learned about abiding, the doorway to a rich, living relationship with Jesus Christ.Sawyer has served with The Navigators for several years, first at UW-Madison, and now at his alma mater, SDSU. He is married to the woman of his dreams, Sarah, with whom he enjoys backpacking, eating at fun restaurants, and making disciples.
The Art of Biblical Meditation: Revitalize Your Intake of God's Word with Cody Hanssen
Do you ever struggle with feeling the Bible is boring or irrelevant? Like your time in God's Word has become nothing more than a menial task, like working on an assembly line. You open your bible, read a few pages, cross it off your to-do list and then move on with your day, never giving a second thought to what you just read and its implications for your life? Maybe you wonder how anyone could truly say something like what Psalm 119:97 says: "Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day." You struggle to delight in God's Word. Or maybe you feel overfed and under exercised, like you’re constantly taking in information from God’s word, but you’re unable to connect what you're learning to your feelings and how you live your life. Or maybe you're just plain intimidated by the Bible and so you rarely read it at all. If any of that describes you, you’re not alone. And there's hope! Join us to discover how biblical meditation can revive your relationship with God.Cody is the Campus Director at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He got involved with The Navigators as a student at South Dakota State University, and has been on staff with The Navigators for 7 years. He and his wife Kelly met each other during their first year of EDGE together at UMD. One of his biggest passions is helping people to understand, go deep in, and delight in God's Word. He and Kelly have one daughter, Elli, who is nearly a year old and keeps them laughing and busy with her infectious personality, and her constant activity. Cody enjoys reading good books, and playing just about any competitive sport, especially basketball and ultimate frisbee.
